2020-2025
An ambitious goal - 5 zero barrier playgrounds over 5 years!

Our club is partnering with the City of Chilliwack and our local School District to provide 5 playground over 5 years - we have already completed projects at PROMENTARY and ROBERTSON ELEMENTARY. This year our funds will go to EAST CHILLIWACK ELEMENTARY.

WHAT IS PLAY?
Children’s play is any behaviour, activity or process initiated, controlled and structured by children themselves; it takes place whenever and wherever opportunities arise.
Play involves the exercise of autonomy, physical, mental or emotional activity, and has the potential to take infinite forms, either in groups or alone. These forms will change and be adapted throughout the course of childhood.
The key characteristics of play are fun, uncertainty, challenge, flexibility and non-productivity.
Together, these factors contribute to the enjoyment it produces and the consequent incentive to continue to play.

OUR CHALLENGE
The designs will support a wide range of play, not all physical or equipment based.
Providing freely-accessible public play spaces in Chilliwack is one of the important ways we can recognise and support children’s right to play.
